ATTORNEY PROFILE
JEFFREY J. OLIVEIRA
Attorney Jeffrey J. Oliveira received his Bachelor of Arts, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Connecticut in 1986, where he graduated as an Honors Scholar. While at the University of Connecticut, Attorney Oliveira was awarded membership in the Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi honor societies. In 1985, he was also given the University Scholar and Student Leader award. Attorney Oliveira then went on to attend the University of Connecticut School of Law, graduating with honors in 1989 with his Juris Doctor Degree.
Attorney Oliveira thereafter began his legal career with the law firm of Levy & Droney in Farmington, Connecticut, where he remained until 1997. In December of 1997, he joined the law firm of Moynahan, Ruskin, Mascolo & Minnella, where he remained until December 31, 2000, when he formed Martocchio & Oliveira, LLC, with Louis Martocchio in Southington, CT. Attorney Oliveira’s practice has consisted primarily of civil and criminal litigation with an emphasis in plaintiff’s personal injury and workers’ compensation.
Attorney Oliveira is a member of the Connecticut Bar Association as well as the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association, having served on the House of Delegates for the Connecticut Bar Association representing the 11 District. He has served as an adjunct professor at Teikyo Post University and the Morse School of Business. He has also chaired and lectured at, seminars for the Connecticut Bar Association and Professional Education Systems, Inc., with respect to settlement of civil lawsuits, workers’ compensation issues, and bad faith claims.
Attorney Oliveira has earned the title of Board Certified Workers’ Compensation Specialist by meeting rigorous requirements in the area of Workers’ Compensation law. He is among the first group of thirty-one lawyers in the State of Connecticut to achieve board certification by the Connecticut Bar Association. Additionally, he has served on the board of editors for Compensation Quarterly, a statewide publication for the Workers’ Compensation Section of the Connecticut Bar Association. He is currently on the Standing Committee on Workers’ Compensation Certification for the CT Bar Association.
Attorney Oliveira also volunteers his time to the Waterbury Exchange Club and the Exchange Club Family Life Foundation of Greater Waterbury, CT, Inc., where he has served in the past as President of the executive board. The Exchange Club is part of a national organization consisting of a group of men and women working together to make America a better place to live through one national project, the prevention of child abuse. Among other things, the Foundation works in conjunction with Well Path to support the Family Life Center in Waterbury. Attorney Oliveira has also served as Chair of the Committee for the Prevention of Child Abuse for the Connecticut District Exchange.
